This article will show you how to create and modify treatment plans in Summit. To create or modify a treatment plan, first navigate to System Management > Treatment Plans. This will open up the Treatment Plan screen.

On the Treatment Plan screen, you will see all of the available treatment plans as well as well as the options to create a new treatment plan or to delete an existing treatment plan. There are two ways to create a treatment plan, either completely from scratch or modifying an existing treatment plan. This article will cover both ways in detail and some reasons why you would want to choose one option over the other.

The picture above shows the Treatment Plan screen and an example of a completed treatment plan. On the left hand side, highlighted in green, is a list of all of the available treatment plans for the location, and an option to create a new treatment plan. Because treatment plans are unique to your location, naturally the list will look different. Along the top of the treatment plan, highlighted in red, are boxes for required information for each treatment plan. These pieces of required information are a unique treatment plan name, a maintenance dose reduction value, if the treatment plan has 10 or 5 fold dilutions, and an assigned dosing plan for the treatment plan.

The treatment plan name and 10 or 5 fold dilutions options are fairly self explanatory. Information on dosing plans can be found in the Dosing Plans in Summit article. Maintenance dose reductions exist as a failsafe once a patient has reached the maintenance phase of a treatment plan. Because vials of the same dilution can have slightly concentrations, through slight variations between batches of the same extract as an example, when a new vial of the same dilution as the prior injection is used for the first time, the treatment plan can be set to take a specific number of steps back to ensure that the new injection does not have a higher strength than the prior injection. This number will always be negative, and will only apply to the first injection from a new vial with the same dilution as the previous vial.

Tip: Before creating a new treatment plan, it's a good idea to make sure the plan you want to create doesn't already exist.

Creating a new Treatment Plan from scratch:

Clicking on the New Treatment Plan option in the list of treatment plans will open up a blank treatment plan with no information in it. As mentioned above, the first step is to fill in the four required fields marked with a red *. In addition to being required, this will allow you to save your new treatment plan as you add information. Below the four fields you just entered information for, you will see a blank vial with no information in it. There are options for dilution, vial color, and number of injections for that vial. Filling in the vial information will dynamically change how the vial appears on the screen.

As you can see above, entering a dilution of 100,000, a vial color of purple, and 5 injections, changed the screen from the picture on the left to the picture on the right. Once you have filled out the dilution, color, and number of injections (shown in the box labeled 1), you are ready to enter the dosage for each injection as well as the wait time between injections (shown in the box labeled 2). Once all of the information for the first vial has been filled out, click the plus sign in the New Vial box to create the next vial in the treatment plan.

Once you've created the next vial, the process repeats itself. Choose a dilution for the vial, a color, the number of injections, and then fill dosage and time information for each vial. Repeat this process for each vial in the treatment plan until the plan is complete. For ease and accuracy, it is recommended to fill out the information for each vial one by one rather than creating all the vials then filling out the information. Once the information for you final vial of the treatment plan has been entered, verify that all of the entered information is correct and click the purple save button. Your treatment plan is now ready to use.

Creating a New Treatment Plan from an existing Treatment Plan:

Occasionally you might want to create a treatment plan that is similar to an existing plan. It's possible to make changes to an existing plan and then save it as a new treatment plan. As a general guideline, the more changes that have to be made to the existing treatment plan, the less useful this option becomes but that is a matter of personal preference.

Using the example treatment plan at the beginning of the article, this treatment plan has some minor changes to dates between injections in the first vial, but the remainder of the plan is identical. Rather than having to build an entire new treatment plan from scratch, you can make a handful of changes to create a new plan. Once the changes have been made, choose a new treatment plan name and click the green save button, both highlighted in green.

Deleting or Modifying a Treatment Plan:

To delete a treatment plan, simply select the plan you want to delete, verify you are Absolutely certain you have the correct plan selected, click the red delete button, and then click the confirm button on the popup.

To modify a treatment plan, select the desired plan, make any changes to that plan, verify that the changes are correct, and then click the yellow update button. This allows you to make changes to an existing plan without having to completely remake the plan.

You are now able to create new treatment plans from scratch, create a treatment plan using an existing plan as a template, delete treatment plans, and modify an existing plan! For further questions, please refer to our other articles or contact Xtract support.
